Mama Mia’s Authentic Mexican Salsa

 

From Chef Philip Haughey, SAM’s Classic Grille & Superior Catering, McKeesport, Pennsylvania. 

 

1 cup fresh tomatoes, chopped fine 

1 tbsp cilantro or oregano 

1 tsp salt 

1/2 tsp pepper 

Pinch of sugar (use substitute) 

2 tbsp Tabasco sauce 

1/2 tsp garlic, minced 

2 tbsp each chopped onions and green onions 

 

Combine all ingredients and mix well. Use as a dip, with fish or scrambled eggs, or as a topping for Mexican dishes. 

 

Makes about 1 ½ cups. The recipe can be doubled.
